20 Years on the Water

Clay Weis, the founder and captain at Active Voice Sailing, got his start while serving in the United States Navy sailing USS Constitution out of Boston's Charlestown Navy Yard. Tall ship sailing nationally led to cruising & racing in the Chesapeake Bay, & deliveries spanning the breadth of the Gulf Coast & the length of the East Coast. In 2017, the skipper took the plunge & bought his own yacht; now with more than 10 thousand sea miles under his keel, Captain Clay Weis stands ready to sail with you.

Our Mission

We navigate by a single core value: satisfied sailors make the Midwest an even better place.

Whether by safely delivering your vessel to the Mackinac starting line, to winter somewhere warm or bring it back home, our crew will complete your mission.

If no yacht yet floats at your dock, charter ours! Chart your day, week or more with us: we'll plan, provision, captain & host your Great Lakes adventure.

Vessel Delivery

Our captain is United States Coast Guard licensed to skipper any vessel 100 gross tons or less; our crew has successfully navigated deliveries from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes without incident.

Sailing Charter

Let us get you there: kick back, or trim sail. Fish Harsens Island in Lake St. Clair, or plan dinner & a sunset in Port Huron. All you need is the dream & desire; we'll take care of the rest.

Our Service Area

Charter our yacht to reach the destination of your choice in the Great Lakes; whether it's a few hours around Lake St. Clair or a few days into Lakes Erie, Huron, Michigan or Superior, we'll get you there in style.

Our crew has logged deliveries across the Great Lakes region, through the Erie Canal, the length of the East Coast, & the breadth of the Gulf Coast; if your destination is an even greater adventure, let's chart it together.

Our Command Team: Jay & Clay, the Canalligators

Captain Clay

After 10 years in the Navy & 20 on the waves, the skipper puts crew & guests 1st, & he lives for the mission.

1st Mate Jay

Jay will tell you he's just a deck ape, but truly, he's the keel: the boat won't stay afloat without his navigation, hand on the wheel or a well-timed meal.
